Job Opening: Lead Designer

We are seeking a talented Lead Designer to set the tone and up our game on internal projects and client work. This is a leadership role that we envision would develop into an Art Director position. We are IB5k — a small shop that does very interesting work — this role is really for someone who wants to work hard and make an impact. Our clients range from the League of Conservation Voters, Art In General, The World Bank, U. S. Congress, Bank of America, Best Buy and the Girl Scouts. We also have several internal products in the social media analytics space that we are bringing to market with similar top tier clients. Responsibilities include (not all-inclusive and in no particular order):

• providing design guidance and vision for all projects
• logo and style guide creation
• web and mobile application design, user interface and user experience
• management of outsourced design resources
• participation in the hiring process of new design talent
• contribute to and help shape an open, collaborative development process including the use of mood boards and wireframes

Qualified applicants will have a substantive portfolio of online work, and at least 5 years of experience in a design role. Should be well versed in typography, a large percentage of the Adobe Creative Suite, have contributed to several mobile applications and have a proven track record of User Interface design and CSS/HTML competence. Perhaps most importantly — you should have a developed sense of style and strong opinions vis a vis good and bad design. Ideal candidate will feel equally comfortable discussing the Gawker Redesign, Edward Tufte, and CSS Grid frameworks. Must be a self-starter and be able to accomplish complex tasks without hand holding or micro management.
