New York, NY
Kat left a career in still photography to begin the prestigious graduate film program at New York University in 2002. During her time at NYU she shot many award winning short films that screened at festivals around the world including Berlin, Sundance and Toronto.
Once graduated, Kat continued to work as a New York based Director of Photography on features, documentaries and commercials. Recently she lensed three feature films, Day on Fire staring Olympia Dukakis and Martin Donavan, Life is Hot in Cracktown with Kerri Washington, Laura Flynn Bolye, Mark Webber and Ileana Douglas and True Adolescents, with Melissa Leo and Mark Duplass. Additionally, Kat has extended her visual expertise to the commercial world shooting and directing commercial content for high profile clients such as L’Oreal, Condenast, Liz Claiborne and MTV.
In 2008 Kat joined President Obama’s campaign as a member of the New Media Road Team. This assignment consisted of documenting Obama’s route to the white house — from intimate behind the scenes moments, to impressive 100,000 strong rallies — with video and photography. Since the campaign Kat has focused on producing and shooting documentary films including projects that have taken her to China, Turkey and deep inside the Missouri prison system. Currently she is shooting a project with UNICEF in rural Zambia about HIV positive expecting mothers.
